Hey! I'm glad you showed up! Have a look around, check out some videos and photos, or put on one of my long-play videos for some background music as you just go about your business from wherever you're viewing!
I am Roy Mezzapelle, from Long Island, New York, and I have been a fan of the Great American Songbook and Broadway Tunes my entire life. Having grown up with that music, I am happy now to be able to deliver it in a style I feel would make the original Composers, Lyricists, and Artists proud. A dear friend told me, "All the great songs have already been written; all we have to do is go out there and sing them!" He is correct, and that is exactly what I do!
I stumbled upon singing by accident about 15 years ago while on a Carnival Cruise. Singing at the top of my lungs in the ship's Piano Bar, the Piano Bar Entertainer, Duane Lewis, liked what he heard and handed me a microphone ... the song was Frank Sinatra's version of "Summer Wind." Duane played, I sang, and people danced. We went from one Standard to the next for about an hour, at which point I realized that I had found my new passion in life....SINGING!
When I arrived home after that cruise, I started to hit local spots for karaoke, then ventured into New York City to find venues offering "Open Mic" in Clubs and Piano Bars. From there I became a "regular" at many NYC venues, doing "guest spots" at Jazz Clubs, Piano Bars, and Cabarets, and finally found myself as the Male Vocalist in the Nassau County Police Department's "Blue Lion Band"... a 17-Piece Big Band, reminiscent of the Count Basie Orchestra. I also volunteer with the NYC-Based "VocalEase" Organization, performing at Senior Centers, Nursing Homes, Hospital, and Assisted Living Facilities. With a Pianist and four to five Singers, each singing their own set-list, they give the audience an hour of Standards and Show Tunes, that is nothing short of heart-warming.
Of course, as an avid cruiser with Carnival Cruise Line, you will often find me belting out tunes in the Piano Bar, Atrium, Ocean Plaza, the Big Stage, and yes, even the Night Club!!!
Now, having been out there singing for a few years, I'm looking to expand my horizons. If you are interested in having me perform at an event, or with your band, or you as a solo Pianist, contact me and let's make some amazing music!
Thanks for stopping by!
